Here you will find the answers to the most frequently asked questions I have received.

How do you pronounce your surname?

There are probably numerous ways to do so but because I am English speaking and grew up in an English household, I prefer this pronunciation. “van” as in the van you drive, and “Whye” as in ‘the question- why did you do this?’. Think of the “e” as silent.

How old are you?

I think I look older than I actually am. I was born in 1993.

Who is your agent?

I’m represented by Robert Guinsler of Sterling Lord Literistic, Inc.

How did you get your agent?

My fabulous agent and I connected via #DVPIT, an amazing program created by the wonderful Beth Phelan. Robert liked my pitch during the 2018 DVPIT and the rest as they say is history. For more information on #DVPIT please visit: www.dvpit.com I was previously agented before, I cold queried then. I suggest using the Querytracker website, as it was an invaluable tool to me when I was querying.

Will there be a sequel to Date Me, Bryson Keller?

As of right now the answer is no. Maybe in the future this will change but for now this is stand alone. My next book will feature an entirely different cast and setting.

Is this book #ownvoices?

Yes, it is.

What was your inspiration for this book?

The main source of inspiration for Date Me, Bryson Keller was my own lived experience. The Manga “Seven Days” also served as a jumping off point but only as far as inspiration goes. I explain more HERE. I was also inspired by the Rom-Com “She’s All That” and really wanted to have a romance centered around a game of sorts - and the idea of it being a dare intrigued me. With this book I wanted to put spin on one of my favourite tropes - fake-dating. All of this blended together to make Date Me, Bryson Keller what it is - a coming out narrative with a Rom-Com sensibility.”

Is your book coming out in my country?

The fabulous foreign rights team at Sterling Lord are working on it. I will update the “NEWS” page when I can officially announce anything, so keep up to date there.

Will Date Me, Bryson Keller be a movie?

I would love if it did, as it would be a dream come true. Fingers crossed that this happens.

Can you read my work?

The answer is generally no. But I do sometimes mentor in an amazing mentorship program called Author Mentor Match. And if I’m sitting out a round, then there are numerous other wonderful authors who are willing to help. For more information please visit: Author Mentor Match

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

I am a pantser through and through. Even when I write outlines, I never stick to them. So I have given up, and just write where the story takes me.

How can I contact you?

For any business enquires please direct them to my agent Robert Guinsler. Please visit the contact page for all the necessary information.
